Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about motorcycle maintenance reminders
General Questions
How does the maintenance reminder system work?
The maintenance reminder system helps you track your motorcycle's service schedule. Simply enter your email, add your motorcycle(s), and record when each maintenance item was last performed. The system calculates when maintenance is due based on distance intervals (km) or time intervals (months), and you'll receive email reminders when service is due.
Is this service free?
Yes, the motorcycle maintenance reminder tool is completely free to use. There are no hidden fees or subscription costs. Just enter your information and start tracking your motorcycle maintenance schedule.
Can I track multiple motorcycles?
Yes, you can track multiple motorcycles with a single email address. Simply click 'Add Motorcycle' to add additional bikes. Each motorcycle can have its own maintenance schedule and reminders.
What maintenance items can I track?
You can track essential maintenance items including: Engine Oil (Semi-synthetic or Fully synthetic), Oil Filter, Chain Cleaning/Lubrication, Tyre Pressure Check, Tyre Replacement, Brake Pad Check, Coolant Replacement, Battery Check, and Air Filter. Each item has specific interval recommendations based on distance or time.
How to Use
How do I set up a maintenance reminder?
1) Enter your email address, 2) Click 'Add Motorcycle' and fill in your motorcycle details (brand, model, average weekly distance), 3) For each maintenance item, enter the last service date and optionally the mileage, 4) Click 'Save or Update Records'. The system will calculate upcoming service dates automatically.
What is 'Average Weekly Distance'?
Average Weekly Distance is how many kilometers you ride per week on average. This helps the system calculate when maintenance will be due based on distance intervals. For example, if you ride 150km per week, the system will calculate that you'll reach 3,000km in 20 weeks.
Do I need to enter both date and mileage?
The last service date is required for each maintenance item. Mileage is optional but recommended for more accurate tracking. If you don't remember the exact mileage, you can leave it blank, and the system will estimate based on your average weekly distance.
How do I update my maintenance records?
Simply enter the same email address you used before. If records exist for that email, they will be automatically loaded. You can then update the information and click 'Save or Update Records' to update your maintenance schedule.
Maintenance Intervals
What are the recommended maintenance intervals?
Maintenance intervals vary by item: Engine Oil (Semi-synthetic: 3,000km/3 months, Fully-synthetic: 5,000km/6 months), Oil Filter: 6,000km/6 months, Chain Cleaning: 800km/2 weeks, Tyre Pressure: 200km/1 week, Tyre Replacement: 15,000km/2 years, Brake Pads: 5,000km/6 months, Coolant: 12,000km/12 months, Battery: 6,000km/6 months, Air Filter: 10,000km/12 months. These are general guidelines; always refer to your motorcycle's owner manual.
Can I customize maintenance intervals?
Currently, the system uses standard maintenance intervals based on industry recommendations. However, you can manually update your last service date whenever you perform maintenance, which will automatically reset the countdown. Always follow your motorcycle manufacturer's recommendations in your owner's manual.
What's the difference between semi-synthetic and fully-synthetic engine oil?
Semi-synthetic oil is a blend of conventional and synthetic oil, typically changed every 3,000km or 3 months. Fully-synthetic oil is 100% synthetic and offers better protection and longer intervals, typically changed every 5,000km or 6 months. Fully-synthetic is recommended for high-performance motorcycles but is more expensive.
