Border control personnel among those held for ‘counter setting’
KLIA 'Counter Setting' Scandal: Border Control Officers Among Those Nabbed!
Eh, geng motor! Heard the news? Seems like some serious hanky-panky was going on at KLIA. Our enforcement chaps are investigating a 'counter setting' syndicate, and guess what? Border control personnel are involved!
Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain (that's the big boss of AKPS) dropped the bomb: 18 out of the 27 people arrested for this 'counter setting' business are from the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS). Imagine that!
Apparently, these AKPS fellas were stationed at Terminals 1 and 2 of KLIA. 'Counter setting', for those blur like sotong, is when foreigners get to skip proper procedures to enter the country. Not good, man, not good at all.
MACC Steps In: 'Ops Rentas' Uncovers the Mess
Our graft busters from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) launched 'Ops Rentas' across four states. They picked up 19 men and 8 women, all aged between their 20s and 50s.
Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily says AKPS is giving full cooperation to the MACC. He even contacted Tan Sri Azam Baki, the MACC chief, personally. Power ah!
“We will wait and see the outcome of the investigation,” Comm Mohd Shuhaily said. He also believes some of the people involved might have been up to no good before AKPS was even formed. Aiyoyo, so long already!
Bribes and Bling: Cash, Jewellery, and Luxury Items Seized!
The MACC didn't just arrest people; they also seized a whole load of goodies: over RM200,000 in cash, gold jewellery, gold bars, cars, motorcycles, branded handbags, luxury watches, and even mobile phones. Looks like someone was living the high life!
Here are some photos of motorcycle convoys and riders often involved in legal cross-border touring:
Three enforcement officers have been remanded for four days, while others are remanded for five and seven days. They're suspected of taking bribes to let foreigners into Malaysia without going through the proper channels. Kantoi!
Magistrates in Shah Alam, Ayer Keroh, Seremban, and Kuala Lumpur are handling the remand orders. This case is panas, betul!
What Does This Mean for Us Bikers?
Okay, so what does this 'counter setting' scandal mean for us Malaysian bikers? Well, for starters, it highlights the importance of following the rules when crossing borders. Let's not give our country a bad name, okay?
Hopefully, this crackdown will clean up the system and ensure that legitimate travelers, including us bikers looking for adventure across the border, can do so smoothly and without hassle. Drive safe and obey the law, brothers and sisters!
