Hong Leong Industries: Gear Up for Growth with New Yamaha Models!

Malaysian riders, get ready! Hong Leong Industries (HLI), the folks behind Yamaha bikes in Malaysia, are planning to launch a slew of new models in the next three years. This is expected to boost their sales figures and profits, according to Kenanga Research. Let's check out what this means for us!

Yamaha motorcycles are popular in Malaysia, known for their reliability and performance.

Seven New Bikes on the Horizon

HLI plans to unleash seven brand-new motorcycle models over the next three years. While specific details are still under wraps, these new bikes are expected to increase sales and improve their profit margins. This sounds like good news for us riders – more choices!

Kenanga Research is pretty optimistic, raising HLI's profit forecast for the financial year 2026 by 2%. They foresee HLI grabbing a bigger slice of the market with a 54% share, based on an estimated 700,000 motorcycle sales across Malaysia.

Riding the Gig Economy Wave

The rise of the gig economy – think delivery riders and e-hailing services – is good news for HLI. Motorcycles are essential tools for these jobs, and this trend is expected to fuel demand for HLI's Yamaha bikes.

Yamaha PG-1: The Workhorse

Remember the Yamaha PG-1 launched in August 2024? HLI expects it to be a hot seller, especially among those looking for a reliable and affordable ride for work. They're aiming for at least 500 units per month, and scaling up based on demand.

Premium Scooters and Bikes: XMAX, TMAX Tech Max, and MT09

HLI also launched premium models like the Yamaha MT09 motorcycle, plus XMAX and TMAX Tech Max scooters. These higher-end machines aim to boost profit margins, catering to riders who want a bit more luxury and performance.

What's Next?

Keep an eye out between FY26 and FY28 – seven new bikes are coming our way, including three in FY26 alone! Also, Hong Leong Industries are developing a brand new fully-automated Guocera tile manufacturing plant to cater to the growing construction demands in Malaysia.
