The Ayer Keroh Sessions Court heard how Muhammad Hidayat Burhan, 25, pleaded guilty to the attempted murder charge. Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah didn't play around, handing down the sentence on Thursday.
According to the charge sheet, this love-struck (or should we say, love-STUCK) dude knifed his 18-year-old cousin near Taman Tangga Batu. The incident happened on October 20th. Serious business, guys!
He got charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code β which is no joke, caning can also be implicated here. He could've faced up to 10 years in jail and a fine. Since the stabbing caused injury, he could face up to 20 years behind bars!
Deputy Public Prosecutor Fiqri Hakim Zamri was the man on the prosecution side, while the accused decided to represent himself. A bit brave, don't you think?
Initially, the story was that a factory worker got slashed by a mysterious man. She was pillion riding with her sister-in-law when she suddenly felt pain in her back. Turns out, it was more than just a bad backache!
Later on, the cops discovered it was all about *unrequited love*. Talk about taking rejection to a whole new level!
So, lesson learned, geng? If someone doesn't feel the same way, move on! Don't end up like this guy, spending your best years regretting your actions behind bars.
Moral of the Story?

- If you kena reject, jangan emo! Find another ikan in the sea.
- Always think before you act, or you might end up with a free stay at Hotel Penjara.
