Ops TBC 2026: JPJ 'Saman' Over 7,000 Mat Motor During CNY Special!

Alright, fellow riders, listen up! The Road Transport Department (JPJ) certainly wasn't in a festive mood for some during the recent Chinese New Year. Their 'Ops TBC 2026' special operation, which kicked off on February 9th, saw a whopping 7,414 P (22) notices issued to motorcyclists nationwide!

Riders, What Happened?

This isn't just a small number, guys. JPJ Deputy Director-General (Management and Operations), Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi, highlighted that a staggering 41,332 motorcycles were inspected across the country during this period. Out of these, 103 motorcycles were seized for various offences โ€“ from expired road tax and modified exhausts to riding without a valid license, these are the usual suspects that get riders into trouble.

It's a stark reminder for all of us to ensure our bikes and documents are always in tip-top shape. You never know when you might encounter an unexpected roadblock!

Beyond Two Wheels: A Wider Enforcement Net

While motorcyclists bore a significant brunt of the operation, JPJ's enforcement wasn't limited to bikes. They also cast a wide net over other vehicle categories, ensuring overall road safety during the busy holiday period.

  • Buses: 4,242 buses were inspected at depots and terminals. This resulted in 779 inspection slips being issued, and critically, two buses were seized for failing to comply with safety and legal requirements.
  • Undercover Operations: In an interesting move, JPJ officers went undercover as bus passengers to monitor compliance and safety from a different perspective.
  • Drug Tests for Drivers: A total of 381 bus drivers underwent urine screening, and unfortunately, three tested positive for drugs. Immediate action was taken against them.
  • Goods Vehicles: Enforcement against goods vehicles saw 106 actions recorded nationwide. The top five states with the highest cases were Negeri Sembilan (35), Selangor (16), Penang (15), Perak (12), and Terengganu (9).

Stay Safe, Stay Compliant!

"The aim of Ops TBC 2026 isn't just to issue summonses, but to educate and enforce adherence to road safety regulations. Everyone plays a part in making our roads safer, especially during peak travel seasons like Chinese New Year."

This special operation serves as a strong reminder for everyone, especially motorcyclists, to prioritize road safety and ensure all vehicle requirements are met. Let's all do our part to reduce accidents and make Malaysian roads a safer place for everyone.
