JPJ Eases Up: Get Your Class B License Closer to Home with New Multi-Storey Driving Circuits!

Good news for all aspiring Malaysian bikers! The Road Transport Department (JPJ) just rolled out game-changing guidelines for driving institutes, making it potentially easier and more convenient to get your motorcycle license, especially for those of us battling urban traffic and land scarcity.

Imagine no more long hauls to rural driving schools. JPJ is now allowing training circuits to be set up within multi-storey buildings, warehouses, and even commercial premises! This innovative move is a direct response to the perennial problem of land constraints in our densely populated cities.

• Urban Convenience: Soon, you might be able to learn and practice your Class B (motorcycle) skills closer to home or work. Think rooftop circuits or dedicated levels within a commercial complex!

• Increased Accessibility: This new provision is specifically for Class D (cars) and Class B (motorcycles), meaning easier access to training for new riders.

• Modern Learning Environment: While the idea of an indoor circuit sounds futuristic, JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli emphasized that strict safety requirements and conducive learning environments must be met. So, rest assured, safety remains paramount.

Beyond the High-Rise: Other Key Changes

"The department is open to applications involving the conversion of unused land, buildings, or large warehouses. Even underutilised multi-storey buildings, such as shopping malls, can be considered. For instance, if circuits are built on rooftops, the structure must be strong and meet all specified standards."
