Cops seize 19 motorcycles, arrest four in Senawang operation
Seremban Cops Nab Four, Seize 19 Motorcycles in Senawang Anti-Street Race Blitz
Calling all two-wheel enthusiasts! Here's a heads-up from Seremban: Police recently launched a large-scale integrated operation, popularly known as 'Ops Mat Rempit', targeting illegal street racers and modified bikes causing a ruckus on the roads. The result? A whopping 19 motorcycles impounded, and four riders nabbed!
This impactful six-hour operation kicked off at 10 pm last night, focusing on Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1 โ a known hotspot for illegal racing. The police, alongside several other enforcement agencies, conducted checks on 322 vehicles and individuals.
Common Road Offences Identified
A total of 209 summonses were issued for various traffic violations. These included:
- Modified exhaust systems (a perennial issue among illegal racers!)
- Non-standard registration plates
- Missing registration plates or side mirrors
- Riding without a valid driving license or proper insurance coverage
More critically, four men aged between 16 and 37 were arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 45A(1) of the same Act for riding under the influence of alcohol. Such irresponsible acts endanger not only themselves but also other road users.
"We are not only checking the racers but also those who come to support and encourage them, as they indirectly provide a platform for the organisation of activities that violate the law," emphasized Seremban District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yatim Osman.
Interestingly, one motorcyclist even attempted to escape but was quickly apprehended. This shows the authorities are determined to curb these illicit activities.
Cracking Down on Spectators and Supporters
ACP Mohd Yatim Osman further elaborated that the checks extended beyond the actual racers to include spectators and supporters. Their presence, he noted, indirectly fuels and encourages the organization of these illegal activities. So, if you're thinking of just "watching the show," be warned โ you might find yourself in trouble too!
Authorities remind all motorcyclists to always adhere to road regulations for their own safety and the safety of others. Don't let your beloved kapcai end up seized, or worse, put lives at risk!
